And, mind you, security checkpoints will always be a part of flight travel right now due to the many possible security risks that can very well happen. When you are fully aware of these regulations, you will surely avoid having to deal with much hassle during these checkpoints.

Nonetheless, there are general regulations applicable to just about any state or country. Here are some of the flight luggage regulations you should keep in mind.

Of course, these regulations might differ between states and countries.

When it comes to gels, liquids, and aerosols, there is actually a ban on these products. However, during the late part of September 2007, this ban was actually adjusted by the TSA.

The general regulation now is that passengers are allowed to carry gels, liquids, and aerosols so as long as these are contained inside carry-on pouches or bags. Also, these should be placed inside 3-ounce containers that are just about quart-size, inside a clear zip-top plastic bag.

The regulations do not end there for you would still have to remove each container from their individual plastic bags and submit them for X-ray screening. Of course, flight luggage regulations come with certain exceptions as well.

The following items need not be subjected to X-ray screening anymore: breast milk, baby formula, essential gels, aerosols, and liquids that include OTC and prescription drugs.

As for electronics, the usual digital gadgets, like cell phones, pagers, laptops, and PDAs can be placed inside both carry-on bags and checked-in luggage. But when it comes to undeveloped film that is contained in camera equipment, submitting it for X-ray screening would only damage it.

However, flight luggage regulations exempt this from required screening so you can have it in your carry-on bags as well.

As for sharp objects, it is quite understandable that passengers are banned from bringing such items aboard the plane. Cutters, knives, razor blades, ice axes, even scissors are strictly banned so do not attempt to carry any sharp object with you when traveling.

Should you attempt to carry such items, these would still be confiscated from your possession. Worse, you just might find yourself held for questioning as to your intentions of bringing these items with you on your flight.

You just might have to kiss your airplane goodbye without ever boarding it. As expected, there are also regulations pertaining to the carrying and checking in of guns and firearms.

You cannot check in nor carry on gun powder, percussion caps, and flares. However, you can check in compressed air paintball guns, gun lighters, starter pistols, pellet guns, and fire arm replicas.
